Organising the music & and church
Choosing the music programme
- Listen to the audio samples on www.weddingsongs.ie and choose what you like.
- Have a look at the sample programmes to know where and how often the music occurs.
- Not all pieces of music are appropriate for a particular section of the ceremony. See the recordings categorized to find out what is appropriate and where.
- If there is a particluar piece of music that you would like that isn't in the list of recordings, the Avoca Duet can perform it so long as the proper sheet music is available - this can be indicated on the selection form.
- Submit the selection form at least one month in advance of the wedding. But before you do that........
- Please read the selection guide to find out exactly how to finalise your choices of music and where to put them in the mass.
- If at any stage you need any advice or help, please contact the Avoca Duet either by phone or email.
Arranging details at the church
- The group will bring all their own equipment to the church - PA, microphones etc.
- The group will also bring their own electric stage piano/organ to the church, so there is no need to depend on the church to provide this.
- The church should be open 1 hour before the ceremony begins, to allow the group time to set up and rehearse.
- If there is a gallery in the church, please make sure that the key to it, if it is locked, is available to the Avoca Duet at least 1 hour beforehand.
- The group will make a decision on the day whether or not to use the gallery, if there is one. The factors taken into consideration are the size of the church, the location of the gallery etc. Generally speaking, the quality of sound will be better in the church when the music is performed in the gallery.
- Payment should be made on the day, but should be made before the ceremony begins. Either a cheque/bank draft or cash is fine - made payable to 'John Manners'.
